Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any drawing or sewing experience?

No experience is necessary! We love teaching new students how to sew; each fashion class, camp, party and workshop begins with a lesson on safely using the sewing machine! We will teach your child everything that is needed to bring their ideas to life! Our projects range in difficulty - beginners will learn to sew from scratch, while more advanced students or students whom are returning to our program will start at a level appropriate to their knowledge. We also elevate students with prior exper

How many projects do you make in one course?

Projects range by program. See your Program Director for a list of projects and their estimated timeline. Children’s courses progress at a rate of 3-4 projects per 10-week course.

Who do we make the clothes we design for?

They are for your child to wear and show off to their (and your) friends!

Is this for Boys and Girls?

Yes! Fashion is universal. Boys and girls are welcome.

What kind of instruction will my child receive?

In a sewing class students begin using sewing machines on day one. Instructors will teach the class how to safely use and thread a machine, and sew garments. Our sewing classes also cover how to hand sew, use simple patterns and measuring. By the end of the camp, students will make an article of clothing or an accessory that they can take home and actually wear.

Can I sit in and observe?

We encourage independent learning and like to create a class setting with minimum distractions from parent presence. We encourage parents to attend our end of term showcase where students can share their projects and newfound skill.

What type of equipment is used in the classroom?

We use a Brother® CE1125PRW Computerized Sewing Machine, as well as basic sewing tools.

What if my child finishes a project early?

We assign a learning exercise from our Form 2 Fashion workbook or offer open studio time for them to choose an easy sewing project of their choice.
